Free-to-play live-service shooter Steel Hunters will shut down just months after releasing in early access.
Developer/publisher Wargaming said in a statement that while the community had “given [them] so much passion and support […] unfortunately we’ve come to the conclusion that continuing development is not sustainable.”
The game – which released on April 2 – is currently sitting on a ‘mixed’ user score on Steam. As Eurogamer points out, its all-time concurrent peak is just 4479 players, set the day it released.
Steel Hunters’ servers will remain online until early October.
“We are immensely grateful for your time feedback memes and the countless memorable battles we’ve shared,” the team concluded. “From the very first days of Alpha you’ve shaped Steel Hunters with your energy creativity and dedication and we’re honored to have had you on this journey. We couldn’t have wished for a better community and we’ll miss you all dearly.”
