Former ProbablyMonsters alum Carlos Sanchez (CEO), Jolie Menzel (studio design director), Kevin Creese (studio engineering director), Matt Boehm (studio animation director), and Ryan Kaufman (CCO) have opened a new studio focused on “emotionally rich, single-player narrative games,” Zunzún.
Partnering with “incredible talent from across South America,” Kaufman – who formerly worked at Telltale and LucasArts – said the team will design “stories designed to resonate, characters that stay with you, and choices that hit you right in the chest.”
“We believe games can be art, and great art should make you feel something,” Kaufman added. “Our studio is small but fierce – like our namesake, the Zunzún hummingbird – agile, creative, and driven by heart.”
The studio’s first project will be “something bold, beautiful, and lasting,” based on an original IP.
ProbablyMonsters cut an unspecified number of developers earlier this year.
