Website and video outlet Giant Bomb is undergoing a ‘strategic reset’, according to owner Fandom Inc., after several staff disclosed publicly that they’re no longer working for the brand.

Signs of disagreements behind the scenes emerged earlier this week, after an episode of the Giant Bombcast was pulled that apparently featured the hosts mocking a series of new content guidelines from its managers.

Yesterday, May 1, producer and host Jeff Grubb announced on BlueSky that he’s no longer with Giant Bomb. “Well, that was a dream come true. Knew it wouldn’t last, though. Out of a job at the moment.”

GamesBeat’s Mike Minotti, a Giant Bomb contributor, shared he’s no longer participating in the show on BlueSky. “Needless to say I will no longer be contributing to Giant Bomb. Nothing but love to all the wonderful people from there and GameSpot.

“Jeff was a workhorse and a hero for the way he shouldered so much responsibility there, and I am furious with the way execs treated him.”

Creative director Dan Ryckert revealed on a recent livestream that he’ll no longer be participating in the Giant Bombcast either, according to a report by Kotaku.

“We understand your frustration and appreciate your patience — we’re actively exploring creative directions for the future of GB and look forward to sharing more with you soon,” read a message shared on the Giant Bomb BlueSky account.

Fandom, Inc. elaborated in a statement to Kotaku. “We understand this programming pause isn’t ideal for our audience, but it’s part of a strategic reset and realignment of our media brands.

“We have some creative ideas for the future of Giant Bomb that we’re actively working on that we’ll be able to communicate more about soon.”

Fandom, Inc purchased Giant Bomb and GameSpot from Red Ventures in October 2022.
